January 15th 2006 - The seasons first Hole-in-One has already been made! Junior golfer extraordinaire, Hank, scored the first ace of the season, and the first of his thus far short golfing career. At 9 years of age Hank participated in this years Holiday camp, which consisted of two days of fun and instruction on everything from putting to the full swing, we even had an impromptu lesson on hole-in-one celebration. As the final exercise of the Holiday camp we teed it up to play a few holes. Even though the weather wasn't great outside, use of the new golf simulator provided warm 70 degree weather. Not only was the weather great, but so were the surroundings, campers selected to play not just any golf course, but the TPC at Sawgrass. I am sure that many of you are already piecing the story together, but after a few holes, with time running out we went to the famed island hole #17. Hank calmly addressed the ball, properly adjusting his stance, posture, grip, alignment, and smoothly with great tempo struck his iron shot straight toward the flag. As the camera zoomed nearer the flag we all knew it would be close, but as the ball disappeared between the flag stick and cup, slam dunk!, only Hank knew what to do dropping his club and circling the club house. The rest of us stood in amazement for a moment then joined Hank in his celebration. Golf memories are great especially when they are shared. This is but one of the great memories this years Holiday Camp provided. Thank you to all who participated. |
